Extended transition period: AHC Qualifications (x10)

23 October 2024

Updated 11 September 2025

ASQA is empowered to approve transition periods longer than those detailed in Clause 1.26(a) of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015.

ASQA will only consider applications for a longer transition period where it can be demonstrated that there would be genuine disadvantage to a cohort of learners if such an extension was not approved.

ASQA has approved an extended transition period for the following training products:

  • AHC20720 - Certificate II in Nursery Operations
  • AHC21020 - Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
  • AHC30620 - Certificate III in Production Horticulture
  • AHC30820 - Certificate III in Arboriculture
  • AHC31021 - Certificate III in Parks and Gardens
  • AHC31319 - Certificate III in Sports Turf Management
  • AHC31421 - Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
  • AHC32422 - Certificate III in Irrigation Technology
  • AHC31120 - Certificate III in Nursery Operations
  • AHC51019 – Diploma of Sports Turf Management

The transition period for training, assessment and certification issuance for these training products was originally approved from 29 April 2025 until 31 January 2026 for continuing students only.

From 1 July 2025, the 2025 Standards for RTOs allow continuing students to be completed in a timely manner without needing approval from ASQA. Therefore the extended transition period for these training products is now approved from 29 April 2025 to 30 June 2025, for continuing students only.

Students enrolled in any of the above qualifications by 29 April 2025 should be completed in a timely manner.

If it is not possible to complete students in a timely manner, they should be transferred into the replacement training product.

ASQA consulted with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority and the Training Accreditation Council of Western Australia.

ASQA also consulted with Skills Insight, the Jobs and Skills Council with operational responsibility for the AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package, regarding this extended transition period.
