Step 2—Course redevelopment

During this step you should continue your research and industry consultation.

You need to show there is an ongoing industry need for your course.

You must also make sure your course meets the:

  • Standards for VET Accredited Courses 2021
  • Australian Qualification Framework

(There may have been changes since your course was accredited.)

Review your course document

You need to review your course document and make any amendments.

For guidance see Section B:3.2 of the national course document template and refer to the Users' guide to developing a course document.

Make sure the nominal hours for your training package units follow the Victorian training package purchasing guides.

Consulting with stakeholders

It is essential to consult the key stakeholders identified in your intention to renew.

During your research you may identify other stakeholders with an interest in your course.

Consultation will help you show there is still an industry need for your course.

You need to submit evidence of your stakeholder consultation process.

You are also encouraged to consult with Jobs and Skills Councils (JSC) if they cover your industry area.

Research existing training packages

For information about researching training packages see Standard 9 of our Users’ Guide.

The content of all accredited training packages is available on training.gov.au.

Your course will not be accredited if it duplicates existing training package qualifications or units of competency.

Using consultants

You can use a specialist consultant to help you review your course.

ASQA cannot recommend a consultant.

Industry bodies such as Velg and the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia publish lists that may help you find a consultant.

Contact us

If you have any questions about renewing your course call 1300 701 801 or email accreditation@asqa.gov.au.
