ELICOS fee relief
ASQA will continue to waive fees and charges for ESOS providers who are only registered to deliver ELICOS courses (ELICOS-only providers) until 31 December 2022.
This implements the former Government’s announcement on 25 November 2021, extending fee relief to English Language providers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fee relief was first introduced in April 2020 as part of a package of measures to support the VET and ESOS sectors.
Excluded from these relief measures are fees and charges:
- incurred by ELICOS providers who are registered under both the NVR and ESOS Acts
- related to applications for initial registration on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
Which fees and charges are included in the relief measures? Which fees and charges are excluded?
The table below shows how the financial relief measures for ELICOS-only providers apply to relevant fees and charges.

Frequently asked questions
No. Only organisations that are registered ESOS providers who are only registered to deliver ELICOS courses are subject to the fee relief.
If fee relief applies, you will not have to pay an annual registration charge for 2022-2023. Please note: an invoice will be issued automatically in July 2022, and ASQA will issue you with a credit note.
