Concerning practices in the real estate sector
What is the issue?
ASQA is concerned about some practices by registered training organisations (RTOs) delivering training and assessment for:
- CPP41419: Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice
- CPP51122: Diploma of Property (Agency Management)
- CPP40521: Certificate IV in Strata Community Management
We have received information from industry and regulatory stakeholders that indicates graduates of the above qualifications are not being properly enrolled, trained and assessed, or given sufficient information of their legal and licensing requirements prior to applying to the relevant state or territory licensing authority to become a licensed real estate agent.
Actions for registered training organisations
ASQA may undertake performance assessment, or audit, activities of RTOs where we have concerns about these poor practices. We remind RTOs with any of these qualifications on their scope of registration of their obligations under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 and the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015.
We remind all RTOs of their obligations to comply with Commonwealth, state and territory legislation and regulatory requirements relevant to their operations.
We will communicate directly with all relevant RTOs.
Actions for students
ASQA encourages anyone with specific concerns about these practices – including students – to contact us via our online complaints portal, asqaconnect.
