VET FEE-HELP / VET Student Loans

The VSL tuition protection arrangements will commence on 1 January 2020.

The Department of Education and Training has been managing the current interim tuition assurance arrangements for students with a VET Student Loan (VSL), VET FEE-HELP loan, or a FEE-HELP load through a private or TAFE higher education provider.

As of 1 January 2018, eligibility for student payments has been restricted to those VET courses (at diploma level and above) and education providers that are approved for VET Student Loans.

Under the VET Student Loans Rules 2016, the transitional approval of the current tuition assurance operators for VET delivery under VET Student Loans and VET FEE-HELP expires on 31 December 2017.

-

The next application round for eligible organisations to apply to become an approved course provider for VET Student Loans opens on 30 August 2017.

ASQA will be adopting a revised methodology in conducting compliance audits of VET FEE-HELP providers from 2016.

ASQA strongly refutes claims made in the media recently regarding its regulation of training providers approved to offer training under the Commonwealth Government’s VET FEE-HELP scheme.
