Review of VET Accredited Courses to identify superseded or deleted units

20 December 2018

ASQA has recently reviewed all current VET accredited courses that contain training package units of competency. ASQA’s review sought to identify superseded or deleted units from the parent training package listed on the national register, training.gov.au.

ASQA’s review has found that:

  • 61% of VET accredited courses include training package units
  • 48% of all VET accredited courses contain superseded or deleted training package units.

Updating superseded or deleted training package units in VET Accredited Courses

ASQA has contacted affected VET accredited course owners to amend their courses. In some cases, where deleted/superseded training package units substantially affect the intended outcomes of the accredited course, ASQA may cancel the course’s accreditation and the course owner may apply to accredit a new course.

What will happen in 2019?

ASQA is exploring options for ensuring effective monitoring and updating of VET accredited courses containing training package units in 2019 to ensure students receive training and assessment in current units of competency.
