Extended transition period: AHC50520 Diploma of Arboriculture

21 January 2025

Updated 11 September 2025

ASQA is empowered to approve transition periods longer than those detailed in Clause 1.26(a) of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015. ASQA will only consider applications for a longer transition period where it can be demonstrated that there would be genuine disadvantage to a cohort of learners if such an extension was not approved.

ASQA has approved an extended transition period for the qualification listed below.

Qualification

AHC50520 Diploma of Arboriculture

Existing transition period

Standard 12-month transition period from 30 April 2024 until 29 April 2025.

Extended transition conditions

  • ASQA previously approved an extended transition period from 30 April 2025 until 31 January 2026 for continuing students who commenced the qualification on or before 29 April 2025.
  • From 1 July 2025, the 2025 Standards for RTOs allow continuing students to be completed in a timely manner without needing to seek approval from ASQA.
  • Therefore the extended transition period for this training product is now approved from 30 April 2025 to 30 June 2025, for continuing students only.
  • Students enrolled in this qualification by 30 April 2025 must complete training and assessment and be issued AQF certification documentation in a timely manner.
  • If it is not possible to complete students in a timely manner, they should be transferred into the replacement training product.
  • The extended transition period applies to all RTOs with this qualification on scope.

Reason for approval

It was demonstrated to ASQA that continuing students would be genuinely disadvantaged if required to transition to the replacement qualification, as the impact of non-equivalent changes to the qualification would result in significant gap training and assessment for learners.

Consultation

ASQA consulted with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority, the Training Accreditation Council of Western Australia and Skills Insight, the Jobs and Skills Council with oversight of the AHC training package.
