An application to renew course accreditation undergoes rigorous assessment. This assessment ensures that the course complies with the:
- Standards for VET Accredited Courses 2012

- Australian Qualifications Framework.
We evaluate all applications against the requirements of the Standards for VET Regulators 2015. These requirements focus on:

- client service
- responsive management systems.
We finalise renewal of accreditation applications in line with our service standards.
Assessment stage overview—renewal application
ASQA conducts an initial completeness check of each application.
We will notify you if your application is found to be incomplete. You will have ten working days from this notification to provide all required information or supporting evidence. If you do not provide the requested evidence within this 10-day time frame, we may reject your application.
The accreditation assessor will conduct an evaluation of the information provided in:
- your application form
- your course document
- industry letters
- other supporting evidence you provided.
During their evaluation, the accreditation assessor may contact you or, seek advice and information from relevant external bodies to clarify or confirm evidence provided with the application.
The assessor may also prepare an evaluation report documenting the findings of compliance or non-compliance against each of the standards.
We will not prepare a report if we find your application to be compliant at the initial evaluation stage.
If we identify non-compliance, you will have one opportunity to rectify the issue/s and submit a revised course document and accompanying evidence. You must provide the rectified submission within 20 working days of the date you are notified of the non-compliance.
The resubmitted application, including the revised course document will be reassessed against the Standards for VET Accredited Courses 2012, Standards for Training Packages and the Australian Qualifications Framework.
For an overview of what to do as a course owner when you receive a notice of non-compliance from ASQA, see our page on Addressing notices of non-compliance.
