The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) has released draft Quality Indicator surveys for public consultation.

The surveys, first developed in 2007, have been updated to align with the 2025 Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and ensure they support providers to make best use of student and employer perspectives to enable quality vocational education and training (VET) outcomes.

The consultation aims to gauge the usefulness of the proposed survey questions in providing robust and valid data that will support providers to measure their performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

We welcome feedback on providers’ experience administering and using the Quality Indicator surveys, and whether the proposed questions will help them assess their performance across key areas of the 2025 Standards for RTOs.

Feedback can be provided via the survey available on DEWR’s website. The consultation closes 23 October 2026.

The updated Quality Indicator surveys and accompanying guides will be released in December 2026. Providers will be required to use the updated surveys from February 2027 and for the remainder of the calendar year – and continue to submit their annual summary report to ASQA by 30 June each calendar year.

More information on the Quality Indicators is available on our website.
