Providers are required to notify ASQA of changes and significant events that may affect their organisation.
Some significant events are already covered by specific notification categories in asqanet, such as changes to the CEO, legal entity or business name. However, providers may experience other significant events that are not captured by an existing notification category. Where a significant event affects, or may affect, the provider's operations or ability to meet its legislative or registration obligations, the provider must notify ASQA by selecting 'Other significant event’ when lodging a Notification of material change or event through asqanet.
What is an ‘other significant event’?
An ‘other significant event’ is an event that:
- is not covered by an existing material change notification category
- has a significant impact on your organisation's operations
- affects, or may affect, your ability to comply with your obligations as a registered provider.
Examples may include changes affecting a governing person’s fit and proper person status, the loss or failure of critical systems or data, data or privacy beaches, and unexpected closure or disruption of facilities.
Notification process
You must notify ASQA within 10 business days of the event occurring.
To notify us, complete a Notification of material change or event form in asqanet and select ‘Other significant event’ as the notification type.
When lodging the notification, provide:
- a description of the event
- the date the event occurred or was identified
- details of the impact on your organisation
- any actions taken to manage risks and ensure ongoing compliance.
