On this page
The information on this page applies to registration under both the NVR Act and the ESOS Act.
When to renew your registration
ASQA approves registration for a period of up to 7 years. Registration does not renew automatically. Registration expires unless ASQA approves an application for renewal. To be considered for registration renewal, you must apply at least 90 days before your registration expiry date.
The renewal application form is available in asqanet 12 months prior to expiry. The form is not accessible once expiry is within 90 days.
If you fail to submit a complete application at least 90 days before your expiry date, you need to request ASQA's approval to submit a late renewal application, which may not be approved.
If you are registered on CRICOS to deliver VET courses, you must maintain registration as an RTO in addition to your ESOS registration. Your registration periods as an RTO and an ESOS provider are often aligned. Applying to renew ESOS registration does not renew RTO registration. An application for both registrations must be submitted.
ESOS providers are subject to Department of Education fees and charges in addition to ASQA’s charges for renewal — see the Department website for more details. If you no longer wish to operate as a registered training organisation, you must apply to ASQA to withdraw your registration.
Submit your application
Before submitting your application, you should be confident that you can demonstrate that your organisation:
- meets all obligations to learners and clients
- has effective governance and administration arrangements in place
- delivers quality training and assessment outcomes that meet the needs of industry and learners
- can comply with required standards
Find out more about the requirements for registration and the 2025 Standards for RTOs.
Submit your application via asqanet. Ensure you:
- review the application form before you make your submission
- have all required evidence available in a suitable format
- pay the application fee
Incomplete applications will be returned. Your application will not be considered submitted if the associated application fee is outstanding.
Changing your scope or details
Renewal of registration applications do not allow you to change your scope of registration or registration details. A separate application to change your scope of registration or details must be submitted.
Review your details in asqanet before you need to submit your renewal application and make changes well ahead of your renewal deadline.
Don’t wait for changes to be actioned before you make your renewal application. Unactioned changes are not a sufficient reason for ASQA to approve a late renewal application submission.
