This year promises to be a busy one for the national VET regulator, with a range of major projects currently underway or due to begin in the months ahead.
Following ASQA’s June 2017 publication of a strategic review report relating to unduly short courses, in December 2017, Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, the Hon Karen Andrews MP, announced a public consultation with VET stakeholders on the implementation of ASQA’s recommendations. This consultation is currently underway.
ASQA is continuing its increased focus on international education in 2018, with a strategic review of VET and English language education delivery to overseas students currently in the pipeline.
The New Year also brings a range of legislative and policy changes in the sector that may have an impact on your organisation, including a new National Code for the international education sector, new ELICOS Standards, and changes to the National VET Data Policy. This month’s newsletter provides more information on each of these developments.
ASQA is also currently planning our 2018 training provider briefings, which will take place in May and June. I know many of you are interested in these every year, and we will provide more information about the schedule for and locations of these sessions in next month’s newsletter.
