Are you planning to offer a VET accredited English course to overseas students on student visas?

23 July 2014

ASQA Commissioners recently sought clarification on the recent policy announcement that all VET Accredited English courses (excluding those courses designed for people wanting to teach English to speakers of other languages – TESOL) are to be registered on the Commonwealth Register for Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) as English language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS).

As a result of the clarification received, ASQA Commissioners have reviewed the policy decision made on 5 March 2014 and will not be requiring that all VET Accredited English courses be registered on CRICOS as ELICOS.

ASQA will assess each application against the applicable quality framework as selected in the Field of Education in the application.
