Updates and opportunities to engage
As ASQA prepares to implement the revised Standards and once final Standards have been released, we will provide updates here about:
- Key timelines and dates for the transition to the revised Standards
- Opportunities to engage with ASQA about how we are transitioning to the revised Standards.
Timeline and key dates
During late 2023, the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) is conducting focus groups and a sector-wide survey to test the practical application of the draft revised Standards and to ensure they support effective regulation.
In 2024, ASQA will undertake simulated performance and monitoring activities with a sample of providers.

Opportunities to engage
The first phase of the pilot will include a brief online survey and focus groups.
The online survey seeks input on how RTOs might demonstrate compliance with the draft revised Standards relevant to their operational context. More information and the link to the survey can be found on DEWR’s website.
The focus groups will occur simultaneously with a sample of providers identified by States and Territory Training Authorities, peak bodies and ASQA. Consideration will be given to RTO type, size, scope and location to ensure the focus groups are representative of the sector. RTOs nominated to participate will be approached directly by the Department or ASQA.
ASQA will conduct further piloting activities in 2024 to inform the development of guidance materials and regulatory policies, practices and tools.
This page will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
