Changes to scope
A registered training organisation (RTO) may wish to change its scope of registration with the Australian Skills Authority (ASQA) by adding or removing VET courses.
RTOs must apply to ASQA to change the scope of their registration before any changes are made to the qualifications or units of competency offered or delivered. ASQA will not automatically amend RTOs' registrations in response to changes to Training Packages or accredited courses.
RTO delivery of elective units of competency
As a general rule, ASQA RTOs can offer/deliver units that are:
- not drawn from a qualification the RTO is registered to provide, and
- not drawn from the training package that hosts the qualification into which the unit is being drawn as an elective
—without notifying or formally applying to ASQA.
ASQA has published a fact sheet on delivering elective units. See the Publications page for more information.
Submitting an application using ASQAnet
ASQA's online registration service, ASQAnet, is the easiest way to:
- submit an application to add new (or revised) training package qualifications, units of competency, skill sets or accredited courses, or
- submit an application to remove training package qualifications, units of competency, skill sets or accredited courses.
Support materials, including videos, are available to help RTOs use ASQAnet effectively.
Start using ASQAnet.
Submitting an application—Alternative methods
