Get a course accredited

There are six stages involved in gaining course accreditation.

Stage 1—Preliminary research and consultation

Stage 2—Course concept proposal

Stage 3—Course development

Stage 4—Course design and preparation of the course accreditation submission

Stage 5—Assessment

Stage 6—Decision

For an outline of what’s involved in each of these stages, see the Users' guide to the Standards for VET Accredited Courses.

Which form do I use?

The Application for course accreditation form (initial or renewal) must be used.

Is there a fee?

A fee is due at the time an application to have a course accredited is submitted.

Go to ASQA's Schedule of fees and charges.

Applicants to ASQA as a delegate of the QLD Training and Employment Recognition Council should contact the ASQA info line on 1300 701 801 for information about fees and charges.

How long does accreditation take?

Provided that the course concept proposal, course document and course accreditation submission are all developed and completed in accordance with the appropriate Standards for VET accredited courses, a course could be accredited within four months. Timeframes vary depending on a range of factors, including the quality of the submission.

The web pages in this section details each stage of the accreditation process and indicate approximate timeframes for that stage.
